Website Terms of Use

These Website Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of www.securitysnares.com, including its pages, forms, research content, and partner area (the “Site”), operated by SecuritySnares, Inc. (“SecuritySnares,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you are using the Site on behalf of an organization, you agree to these Terms on its behalf and represent that you have authority to do so. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

1. Other Agreements

These Terms cover the Site only. Other terms apply in the following cases:

  • Software and services. Use of the RansomSnare software and related services is governed by our Software Terms and Conditions and any applicable order, not by these Terms.
  • Partner area. Access to the partner area is also governed by your organization’s partner agreement with SecuritySnares. If that agreement conflicts with these Terms, the partner agreement controls.
  • Sample submissions. Submitting a ransomware sample is also subject to our Sample Submission Terms. If those terms conflict with these Terms, the Sample Submission Terms control.
  • Privacy. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information collected through the Site.

2. Use of the Site

The Site is intended for business and professional use. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to access and use the Site for your internal business purposes and to evaluate SecuritySnares products and services. You agree not to:

  • use the Site in violation of any applicable law or regulation;
  • copy, scrape, harvest, or systematically extract content or data from the Site by automated means, except as permitted by search-engine indexing;
  • probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Site or any related system, or breach or circumvent any security or authentication measure, without our prior written authorization;
  • interfere with or disrupt the Site, including through excessive requests, denial-of-service attacks, or the introduction of malicious code (other than through the sample-submission feature, as intended);
  • submit false, misleading, or spam content through any form, or impersonate any person or organization;
  • access or attempt to access any account or area of the Site you are not authorized to use; or
  • use the Site or its content to build a competing product or service.

If you believe you have found a security vulnerability in the Site, please report it to info@securitysnares.com rather than testing it further.

3. Partner Accounts

The partner area is available only to authorized SecuritySnares partners. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials, passkeys, and devices secure, for all activity under your account, and for notifying us promptly of any unauthorized use. Materials in the partner area, including sales and marketing materials, pricing, and deal information, are SecuritySnares confidential information. You may use them only as permitted by your partner agreement and may not share them outside your organization except as that agreement allows. We may suspend or revoke partner access at any time.

4. Information You Submit

When you submit information through the Site, such as a demo request, deal registration, or message, you represent that it is accurate and that you have the right to provide it. If you send us feedback or suggestions about our products or the Site, we may use them without restriction or obligation to you.

5. Ransomware Sample Submissions

Our Sample Submission Terms describe how the sample test service works, including that samples are kept indefinitely and results may be visible to others. By submitting a file for testing, you also represent and agree that:

  • you are authorized to possess and submit the file, and submitting it does not violate any law or any obligation you owe to a third party;
  • you understand the file may be malicious, and you will not submit files containing personal information or confidential data that you are not authorized to share;
  • you grant SecuritySnares a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, analyze, execute in isolated environments, and retain the file and the results of our analysis, and to use them to improve our products and support our threat research; and
  • we may decline, delete, or stop analyzing any submission at our discretion, and test results are provided for informational purposes only.

6. Intellectual Property

The Site and its content, including text, research, graphics, logos, images, software, and the selection and arrangement of that content, are owned by SecuritySnares or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may view and print pages of the Site for your internal business use, provided you keep all proprietary notices intact. Except as expressly allowed by these Terms, you may not copy, modify, distribute, publicly display, or create derivative works from Site content without our prior written permission.

“SecuritySnares,” “RansomSnare,” and our logos are trademarks of SecuritySnares, Inc. Other names and marks on the Site belong to their respective owners. Nothing in these Terms grants you a right to use any of these marks.

7. Research and Informational Content

Blog posts, research briefs, case studies, and other content on the Site are provided for general informational purposes and do not constitute professional, legal, or security advice for your specific environment. Test results and research findings describe the conditions under which they were obtained and are not a guarantee of results in any other environment. Product descriptions on the Site do not modify the terms of any agreement for our software or services.

8. Third-Party Links and Content

The Site may link to or embed content from third-party websites and services. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party content, products, or privacy practices. Your use of third-party sites is at your own risk and subject to their terms.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SITE IS FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SECURITYSNARES AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SITE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SITE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100). SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY, SO SOME OF THESE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

11. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SecuritySnares and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of or relating to your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the Site, or any file or information you submit through the Site.

12. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to all or part of the Site at any time, with or without notice, including if we believe you have violated these Terms. Sections 4 through 13 survive any termination.

13. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts having jurisdiction over Washtenaw County, Michigan, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

15. General

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible and the remaining provisions will remain in effect. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them without restriction. These Terms, together with the agreements referenced in Section 1, are the entire agreement between you and SecuritySnares regarding the Site.
